Keep off from stimulant drinks

Posted by Chetan Bharadwaj | Posted in General | Posted on 29-10-2009

Whenever someone becomes tired s/he takes some drinks like coffee, tea or cocoa products which give an apparent stimuli for the time being, but this relief does not last long. The moment the effect of coffee or tea or cocoa wears off, the blood sugar level drops. This repeated shooting up and falling down of sugar levels affects the efficiency of the heart and weakens it.

Does the idea of starting your own business seems like a dream come true?

Although being self employed and owning a business provides one with several financial and personal freedom, but these paybacks only kick in when the business you are running gets conventional and established. My first experience at Startup Saturday Kolkata

Posted by Chetan Bharadwaj | Posted in Chetan Bharadwaj | Posted on 13-09-2009

I got up this morning with a phone call from a friend of mine planning for a hangout in the evening. After I was done with him, few thoughts flew in my mind as I rested back in my bed for another nap as it was Sunday (supposedly a holiday or a day when WE meet to enjoy, keep up the discussions that we had throughout the tight working schedule of the week). I was thinking why the damn we couldn’t have a good movie to watch this weekend? Though this statement sounds little prejudicing as we have lot of another options rather than a movie. But what I mean is why WE are not catching up today. When I am mentioning WE; I intend to indicate at the group FOURDY that we have formed in the recent past without actually coming to the terms that we are a group or an association of like minds with expertise in variant fields.

Posted by Rahul Bharadwaj | Posted in Festival/Events, Introduction | Posted on 10-09-2009

Durga Puja

What is ADP – Amar Durga Puja?

As we all know that Durga Puja is one of the most awaited festival in West Bengal but because of it’s geographical restriction people in the other part of the world can only read about it or view photos only once the event is over – it’s like watching the highlights of the World Cup Finals. We, at FOURDY WLOG, decided to take Durga Puja to the whole world. After a lot of thinking the only way we could do it was through the most powerful medium of today, the internet. This is when we decided to create ADP – www.amardurgapuja.com. ADP would be like a platform for the users to share their thoughts, videos, photo and more about Durga Puja.

Posted by Anurag Ahuja | Posted in Designing | Posted on 09-09-2009

Amidst of all discussion happening to save non-renewable resources why isn’t anyone thinking of web space? Where do you classify the webspace? Do you think you can go on and on and on putting anything over the internet?

With this though, I (as a web designer,) decided to optimize the size of all graphics that I use to build my webpages. For doing so, I came across many ways to do it and many tools which help you do it. I am listing the 6 excellent tools to do so.

Non-techie people can also use it while mailing/uploading photos taken from Digital Camera – which are generally huge in size!

JPEG vs GIF– Harness tech understanding

Posted by Chetan Bharadwaj | Posted in Designing | Posted on 05-09-2009

JPEG vs GIFAre you often confused between .gif and .jpeg extensions when you are deciding a file format for your web images? Great! You are looking at the right place for a solution.

Fundamentally, both of these formats compress an image to make it web worthy. Any file with a .jpeg or.gif extension is recognized as an image file by a browser. Only when a site loads quickly into a browser we tend to declare it good in spite of the best functionalities operating otherwise. Agreed? Therefore, it is necessary that the file size of the web page remains small.

Here are stated few points that one needs to know about JPEG & GIF: (a subtle reminder for those tech people who know it ;) )

FOURDY WLOG: What’s in the name?

Posted by Rahul Bharadwaj | Posted in Introduction | Posted on 29-08-2009

I have been answering this question almost everyday and hence, to make it easy, I thought I would blog it down.

From where did the term “FOURDY” evolved from?

FOURDY, as most of you might know, is not a dictionary term. So when and from where and did it come?

Posted by Chetan Bharadwaj | Posted in Management | Posted on 25-08-2009

Time ManagementAre you forever racing against time to meet deadlines? Does your most common refrain happen to be “so much to do and so little time”? If you have answered in affirmative to both the questions, there are also chances that you just can’t get through that to-do list stuck neatly to your workplace or set on your mobile phone. The unfinished tasks that you are not able to complete from a long time are overwhelming you and are also jeopardizing your career :( . Time is your most precious resource today, because it is limited. So, Time management is what I suggest.

How to get the most out of your time?
From my last month’s experience I will recommend you to leverage and audit your time. NO, it definitely doesn’t mean spending more time to manage time!

Ganapati vs Swine Flu- Decide the Ultimate Winner

Posted by Chetan Bharadwaj | Posted in Festival/Events, Review | Posted on 23-08-2009

Lord Ganesha

Lord Ganesha

Ganesh Chaturti (or Ganapati), is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha who is popularly known for his wisdom, power and auspiciousness in Hinduism.  On such an occasion, big idols of the elephant-faced Hindu God is decorated and worshiped. The festival is celebrated all over the country, but more enthusiastically amongst the Marathi Indians. They celebrate the festival continuously for 10 days making it the biggest, most opulent & a highly popular festival of the state Maharashtra. The festival ends on Ananta Chaturdasi Day (this year suppose to be September 2, 2009) when people in a huge procession carry the idols of Lord Ganesha and immerse it into the nearest water source invoking for his blessings.

This year’s Ganesh Chaturti date is August 23, 2009 (Yes, the Ganeshotsav celebration has already commenced and people are out of their home since early morning to pick up Ganapati idols :) ). And as you would join in the celebration, you will observe 2 major themes depicted through paintings, decorations, mannequins and tableaux across the pandals – 26/11 terrorist attack and swine flu.
