Since the 200 sms restriction from TRAI, texting has become gold. 😛
Well the alternative to it is here. It was there but has gained recognition recently.

WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform mobile messaging app for Smartphone’s which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS. (You would not be charged for the SMS you just need to get the GPRS pack activated on your phone). You get this app and then you can chat with the people in your contact list.

WhatsApp Messenger is available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, Symbian, Windows Phone (and unofficially the iPad) only those phones can all message each other provided you have contact numbers of either ways!

WhatsApp synchronizes with the phone’s contact’s book, so users do not need to add contacts in a separate book.

In addition WhatsApp Messenger users can send each other unlimited images, video and audio media messages.

For all platforms users must pay US $1.99 yearly with the first year being free for all users.

Download it on your phone by visiting this page from your phone. And click on: Download

  1. A tweet from them suggested that they soon were launching for Windows:

I am not sure if they have released it for the Windows Phone, they had it temporarily for Windows 7.5 but it isn’t there in the market place now :(

Is there any official download online?

  2. Certainly, it was released on 25th September.

I hope you can get it from this:

In case you happen to use a Windows 7 phone. Don’t worry that will soon be updated to 7.5 and then you can download that on your Windows Smartphone.
